A MOST EXCELLENT RECIPE.....

Haven't posted here in ages. Got hooked up with Facebook; and, that seems to be where everyone goes to find out what I'm doing these days. I've also become interested in Pinterest these days. That place is wicked crazy with all kinds of ideas and recipes; and, I LOVE it!!! And.....so.....I've got a recipe I wanted to share on Pinterest but couldn't find the exact version that I have of it anywhere on the internet. THEREFORE.....I will now write it here and THEN pin it over on Pinterest. Only problem is.....no picture. Take my word, tho; this recipe is easy and mucho tasty! Here 'tis:
PUMPKIN PIE SPICE CAKE

Ingredients:

1 15-oz. can of pumpkin

1 ½ cup of sugar

2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

8 oz. can of Milnot

4 eggs

½ tsp. of salt

1 dry yellow cake mix (I get the buttery one)

2 sticks of melted butter

1 cup of chopped pecan pieces

1. Turn oven to 350 degrees.

2. Combine pumpkin, sugar, spice, Milnot, eggs and salt. Mix thoroughly and pour into a greased 9x13 baking pan.

3. Layer (do not mix together) over the pumpkin mixture the cake mix, butter and pecans.

4. Bake for 50-60 minutes.

Fold into a large container of Cool Whip 3 Tbs. of sugar and 1 Tbs. of cinnamon. Serve with the cooled cake.

Looking toward the Peace Arch which is right on the border between U.S. and Canada. It's the teeny white thing right in the middle of the picture across the water.

I NEED TO.....

get back into the habit of posting. It might not always be brilliant; but, I hope it will always at least be interesting.

GLASSWING BUTTERFLY
The Glasswing butterfly thrives only in Central America. It's distribution ranges from the country of Panama up into parts of Mexico. They are common butterflies but difficult to see because of their transparent wings, which provide camouflage against predators.

MY JELLO-EATIN'.....

cat, Butch. I always heard that cats didn't like eating cold food; but, Butch eats ice cream, pudding AND Jello.
When he got done, he looked at me like, "Is that all I get?"

And, when he found out that was it, he decided to wash his hands.

I WAS IN BLOOMINGTON.....

the other day; and, as I left town, I passed a business that had a sign out by the highway advertising some of their wares: Fruit Jam, Gourmet Chocolate, Amish Popcorn. I did a double-take. Amish Popcorn? What makes popcorn Amish? I googled "amish popcorn" images. I didn't really find anything about "amish popcorn"; but, I found a lot of stuff that said "Amish COUNTRY Popcorn". I found this image on Flickr. The caption read "Amish Country Popcorn - Yum!" I don't know what that extra stuff is in there; and, it didn't say what it was anywhere on that page.

So, I still don't know what makes popcorn "Amish". The fact that it was grown by an Amish farmer? The kind of pot it was popped in? The oil.....the salt? Or perhaps the fact that they didn't wash it before they packaged it made it possible to classify it as "Amish". Did they mix it with a bit of road apple before it was popped? After? *shrugs* I dunno.....'tis a mystery to me. But I can tell you this - the next time I'm past there, I'm going to stop in and find out. I'll let y'all know.
